Hluhluwe Game Reserve

This past weekend, I became one with nature. We traveled to Hluhluwe Game Reserve, lived in Bonamanzi Tree Houses, and went on a safari. Here are some of the pictures I took.
1. The front of our tree house. It wasn't exactly in a tree but it was surrounded by lots of trees. The kitchen and bathroom were downstairs. The living room and bedrooms were upstairs. There was electricity, and running water. It was nice and quiet.

This is the back of our house. We had a nice balcony with a picnic table and a great view of nature.

Our lodge was a 20 minute drive from the game park. The open vehicle was bad news for our eyes and hair. The wind was extremely strong and the temperature was cold. We were all in fetal position to the park and back.

South Africa is known for its Big Five animals - elephant, water buffalo, black rhino, lion and cheetah. These are known as the Big Five because they are dangerous and hard to catch. The game park that we went to had all Big Five but whether we would see any or not depended on luck. Hluhluwe also has hippos, giraffes, zebras and other smaller animals. We went on a 3 hour drive from 7am to 10am. Unfortunately we only saw 3 of the Big Five (elephant, water buffalo and rhino)...but we got really close to zebras and giraffes. All in all it was a great experience.
